Prickly Acacia Control
The project will significantly control prickly acacia in the northern part of the Lake Eyre Basin by implementing control programs using chemical and non-chemical means throughout the season, preventing weed seed banks and recruitment of future infestations. This project will also provide toolkits to landholders in managing weeds in the rangelands.
The project will target high density prickly acacia in complicated sites where conventional control activities cannot be used. This is often in places with varying topography, riparian areas, or where the density of the weeds physically means operators cannot apply control activities.
Year 1 will focus on the Lower Wokingham Creek. Strategic infestation will be targetted in this phase. Year 2 will focus on the Upper Wokingham Creek, while year 3 will focus on properties along Mills Creek.
