Dom started flexing his agriculture muscles by gaining an Associate Diploma Applied Science in Agriculture at University of Adelaide, Roseworthy. He then got his hands dirty on sheep and cattle stations in South Australia and New South Wales for three years before focussing on dryland cropping, irrigated pastures and stud Merinos for another five.
His career then took a different tack into the mining industry where he worked his way up from field officer to manager of operations for BHP Billiton Mineral Exploration in Chile.
Four years ago, he and his wife took on an 11,000 hectare sheep and cattle property 20 kilometres north-west of Longreach. Dom is an active Agforce member, and has used his project management, stakeholder liaison, planning and scheduling skills to support the wild dog control effort in the Central West.
